The question "Why does the Times Conduit keep disappearing from Hotsync" comes up every now and again so we created this post to detail what is going on and how to resolve it.
The Times Conduit is a program that interfaces with Hotsync manager to sync data between the PC and Palm. It is consists of a single file called TimesCond.dll and should be located in the same directory as the Hotsync application. When you install the Times PC components this file is registered with Hotsync and copied to the appropriate directory. There is also a Re-Install Conduit link added to the Start\All Programs\Times menu to re-register the conduit with Hotsync Manager should you reinstall Palm Desktop or it disappears.
If you find that the conduit is disappearing after ever sync there are a couple of possible causes:
1. You have at some point in time had different version of Palm Desktop installed and multiple program locations for Hotsync Manager and the conduit may have been installed to the wrong location. In such cases you should copy the TimesCond.dll file from the Times install directory (C:\Program Files\Times by default) into each directory containing the Hotsync.exe application. Run Re-Install Conduit and then check to see if the Times Conduit is register
2. On rare occasions there is a problem with Palm Desktop which stops the conduit from being registered correctly on WinXP. To solution is to first ensure you are logged on the PC with the same account you will be using to sync with and that account must have administrative privileges. Uninstall Palm Desktop and the reinstall it. Run the Re-Install Conduit for Times.
3. There are security permissions on the Hotsync program directory which prohibits the Conduit file from being copied correctly. You need to remove these permissions or logon with an administrative user and reinstall the conduit.
If this does not resolve the problem please post your issues in this forum so we can assist you.
