re: Using Times Desk Top Remotly
Hi Brendan, There are many different ways to install and configure TimesDesktop and we only cover the basics in the manual. Other deployment scenarios include centralised network database server, three tier deployments, webservices, remoting and internet enabled. For these advanced deployments we recommend users contact our support to discuss their requirements and the best deployment to suit their needs. We will contact you directly to talk through the possibilities.

Using Times Desk Top Reomtly
I have been using Times Desktop and Times for Pocket PC for a while now. We have it configured on my lap top only. I want to put it on LAN in my office. The thinking being that all employees will start using it to record time and expenses. As I understand it the Pocket PC version works indipendently of the desktop version and when I sinc to the lap top now both data bases are syncronized. Is it possible to use times desktop off the network and when employees are back in the office update the data base in the office with the remotely entered data. The pocket PC version is very nice but if I had my choice I would enter all the information directly on a desktop. The immediate need is to put time records from several big cases on your system. If I could dictate the time entries and email that dictation to administrative help working at home who could then enter the information on the system I would be accommodating folks by letting them work at home. It would als

re: compatibility with OpenOffice.org database
We are no experts on Open office but from what we know you cannot open an MS Access database in Open Office and use the existing Forms and compiled code. Basically this means you cannot use the supplied TimesApp database to access your Times data. Open Office can connect to an Access database using an ODBC connection as described here http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/ms-access/ms-access.html This will give you access the underlying data in the Times.mdb but you will mave to maintain this manually. Basically you can view and update the data but you will have to create your own user interface in OO. Note we can supply an MS Access Runtime which provides a free version of MS Access to run TimesApp. This gives you most of the functionality in the application but you cannot change or create any reports, view etc. Contact support if you need this. Times for Palm vs Times for Pocket PC
Ls, About half a year ago I bought Times for Pocket PC. Now I'm finding out I cannot get used to Windows Mobile 5 (being a Palm user for about 10 years), so I'm concidering to sell my iPAC replace it by a Palm based equivalent (go back to good old Palm ;-). Actually, the only good thing about Windows Mobile is .... your Times application.... Is het possible to just buy Times for Palm and continue using the tools as I'm used to (using Desktop Times and the Times SQL-Server database)? Regards, Arjan Saly
